All Founder Trustees share a passion to help those who may have had much less opportunity than them.

We all understand that things go best where there is a helping hand and without that knowledge we would not be in a position to seek to help others.

Terry Bevan
Trustee Chair

Terry Bevan

Terry has a degree in Economics from the LSE which he has used in the last 20 years in his work in specialist economic fields such as the Night Time Economy and regenerating small communities.

He began his working career at Unilever and with other multinationals.

He has bought, sold and invested in companies and for the last thirty years he has acted as a free lance consultant with clients around the world.

Ugliduck brings him back to where he believes he began to see what mattered in life. That was the week he spent in a self built hut with friends living on one shilling a day in the Market Square of Lichfield under the statue of Samuel Johnson.

Jane Bevan
Trustee

Jane Bevan

Jane has degrees in Biochemistry and Art History. She worked for SKF on products which led to a Nobel Prize for her director.

She taught general subjects in schools in Lagos, Kaduna and Milan.

Whilst raising a family she worked as a scientific abstractor and qualified in bookkeeping.

She has managed a factory with nearly two hundred employees supplying products to retailers including M&S, NEXT, and John Lewis Partnership

She has acted as a treasurer for the Abbeyfield Society as well as managing accounts for a wide range of firms in manufacturing and services.

Deirdre Pearson
Trustee

Deirdre Pearson

Deirdre is Chief Executive of the Talbot House Trust.

Talbot House provides non residential education for children with special educational needs.

The Trust also manages a separate residential children's home.

Deirdre began her working career in private sector finance . She was the Finance Director of a housing charity in Newcastle upon Tyne before joining Talbot House.

Previously she has been a trustee of four North East based charities.

She lives in the North East in the UK and has two children who are both teachers.

Colin Gallagher
Trustee

Colin Gallagher

Colin was born and schooled in South Shields on Tyneside. He graduated as a mechanical engineer at UMIST in Manchester and began to work in the engineering industry.

He changed careers to become an academic initially as the Leverhulme Fellow at the Centre for Russian and East European Studies at Birmingham University. He lectured at Strathclyde and Glasgow Universities.

He then became Alcan Professor of Business Administration at Newcastle University. He published on engineering and economics subjects.

Colin founded an economics consultancy based on his research into the key role of micro and small firms in an economy. The company worked for UK Government as well as local authority and private sector organisations.

He was a Board Member and Treasurer of the UK Charity - Population Matters for many years.

He has qualified as a Humanist celebrant and his interests include flute playing and country dancing.
